A Do-Little® Aquarium is a miniature aquatic environment that takes very little maintenance, no pump, and no filter. The "magic" is in the colorful beads at the bottom of the kit. Manufactured from silica dioxide and mineral water, they contain millions of microscopic pores that house beneficial bacteria. These bacteria help break down waste. You add a plant for oxygen, feed your fish, and your aquarium is ready to enjoy.

Letter From Teacher Elaine Waters

Dear Patti and Biosand,

I just got your email and thought you might like to know that you are linked as a resource on my science unit plan site for my class at Western Carolina University. If you want to see how your company is referred to, see:

I have enjoyed using your product with my son and myself and our Betta, Atlantis, is becoming a part of my family and my classroom.

I teach at a year round school, and I am using my Do-little Aquarium as a motivational tool in our class, connecting science, writing, and Accelerated Reading with my Aquarium and Atlantis. This is the second
day of school, and my students are already clamoring for the school library to open so they can check out books on their level and test on them.

I have challenged them to read 16 books on their grade level and to pass the computer test at 80%. The Challenge is that, after reading 4 books and testing successfully, they will receive the aquarium
container. After 8 books, they will get the biosand and bioliquid. After 12, the live plant, and after 16, I will take that student out for a dinner date and a trip to the fish store to adopt their own fish pet. I will be teaching the Do-little creed and how to care for their fish next week. So far, they have brought in the school principal, secretary, and the fourth grade teacher, who wants to do the Do-little Reading Challenge, too.

My students are from low socio-economic homes, but I wanted them to feel the bond and pride that comes from caring for a pet that they honestly earned, while helping build their reading and thinking skills. My principal has asked me to write a grant, which would make the Do-little Challenge available to all of the 270 students at our school. I would love to see your product influence the lives of so many of our kids! I found your web site from the product flier that came with my kit, which I found at Muses in Morganton, NC. Pretty soon, I will be calling in or sending in an order for a bulk purchase!

I have 23 excited fifth graders and probably as many fourth graders waiting to begin the Challenge! Thanks for such a neat motivating product.
